We Are Ready For Sundowns, Likhopo Declares

Reigning Buddie League champions, Likhopo, are ready to take on South African 'Mamelodi Sundowns in a crucial African Champions League encounter at Setsoto stadium on February 19, according to team manager Qamako Mahao.

Speaking at the weekend after friendly matches against Botswana Police XI and South African side Qwaqwa Stars, Mahao said Likhopo was ready to meet the Pretoria based  team.

The three team tournament had helped the local boys realise any weaknesses in view of the coming weekend’s game. Two of their players, Moses Ramafole and Ralekoti Mokhahlane had taken part in the games despite nursing injuries, Mahao said.

Likhopo beat their Police XI opponents 4-2 through goals by Motlatsi Shale, Sello 'Muso, Mokhahlane and Bokang Mothoana while Police XI‘s were scored by Duncan Kgopolelo and David Makapa.

In the second game, Police XI beat Qwaqwa Stars 3-2. Likhopo's match was abandoned at half time due to the unplayable conditions of the pitch with Stars were leading by 1-0.

Likhopo and Police XI are preparing for the Champions League first leg encounter where Likhopo host Mamelodi Sundowns and Police XI visit Nigerian champions Stars.

This will be the first time Likhopo features in continental competitions since getting promotion into the elite league two seasons ago.
