The Rural Self-help Development
Association (RSDA) has embarked on a three-year HIV/AIDS prevention
programme at Phamong in Mohale’s hoek. In an interview, the RSDA Project’s Operations Manager , Mr. Bokang Mantutle said the programme is aimed at improving HIV/AIDS prevention and behavioural change among the community members through peer education and communication. He said another objective is to improve health seeking behaviour of HIV/AIDS infected and affected people and their families by sensitizing the community on positive living. Mr. Mantutle noted that the programme will be implemented at 13 villages of Phamong where RSDA operates, thus Tlaling, Kheleli, Makhofola one, Makhofola two, Shalane, Ha Malephane, Makhabane, Ha Ralekone, Anone, Malifatjana, Matolong, Khoai and Mafoseng. Heindicated that the communities in those villages, will also be sensitized about the programme and shall be expected to select peer educators during community action plans to represent adults and the youth. The HIV/AIDS prevention programme is a three-year programme funded by Partners Agency Collaborating Together (PACT) and implemented by RSDA. RSDA started operating in Phamong in 1995 and is aimed at reducing hunger and improving livelihoods of rural community by helping them to help themselves through self-organized community organizations that are able to run their own affairs. |
