Q'S NEK NEW POST OFFICE BUILDING MARKS THE COUNTRY'S ACHIEVEMENT
  Qacha's Nek, May 24 - Prime Minister Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili says the opening of the new Qacha's Nek post office building marks the country's achievement in improving postal services in the country.

He said this when addressing the community at the inauguration ceremony of the new post office building, library and the Qacha's Nek to Mphaki road held at the Melele football ground on Wednesday.

When delivering his speech, Mr. Mosisili said that the government is on the process of constructing six new postal offices in different districts so as to improve postal services in the country.

The Prime Minister explained that among other improvements in the postal services includes the coordination of the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) and Lesotho Telecommunications Authority (LTA) branches within the postal service premises and would soon be installed with improved technological services like the Internet cafes.

Mr. Mosisili explained that the postal office in Qacha's Nek was the first one on the process and would be followed by the one that would be constructed this year at Leribe and others at Mohale’s Hoek, Mafeteng, Botha-Bothe and Mokhotlong that would be constructed when arrangements have been completed.

The Prime Minister noted that postal services in the country nowadays also play an important role in acting as a pay point for elders pensions hence the initiative of providing them with a clean and secure place where they could exercise their duties.

He pointed out that foreign countries including Lesotho are working in collaboration in providing secure places like libraries for people especially encourage students to read in a conducive environment adding that the opening of the Qacha's Nek library increases the number of libraries in the country to five.

Furthermore he indicated that the government has worked hard in making the presence of the new post office building, library as well as the construction of the roads a success adding that they are very expensive and needs proper care by the local communities and appealed to the Qacha's Nek community to keep them including the bus rank tidy at all times.

He further appealed to the herd boys to stop destroying the road markings and signs as the act could contribute to unnecessary road accidents.

The construction of the post office started in 2004 and was completed last month (April) this year.

Also present at the ceremony were the Ministers of Communications, Science & Technology, Local Government, Public Works & Transport and of Tourism, Environment and Culture, Members of Parliament (MP's) and other senior government officials and the public.
