QACHA'S NEK GEARS UP FOR NATIONAL AGRIC SHOW

Qacha, May 26 - The Qacha's Nek district has organised district agricultural show in preparation for the National Agric show to be held at Sekiring on Wednesday.

District Agricultural Officer (DAO) Mr. Lebuile Rantletse indicated that the initiative is an annual event that is meant at scaling both the ministry and the local farmer's improvement in their agricultural work.

The DAO explained that the show is also aimed at providing crop and livestock farmers with an opportunity to exchange farming skills for the development and improvement of their district agricultural products.

Mr. Rantletse noted that during the day, farmers that had won at the resource centre competitions in their villages would exhibit their products that would range from cereals to vegetables, traditional food like 'Nyekoe' and 'Senyakamahloane' as well as handicrafts of different makes.

He pointed out that winners would be awarded with prize monies so as to encourage them in their good work.

The DAO further appealed to local business people to attend the show as they would get an opportunity to identify local farmers that could provide them with their products like potatoes and tomatoes rather than buying them from foreign countries.

Expected guests at the show include the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Dr. Rakoro Phororo, the Minister in the Prime Minister's office, Mr. Ramootsi Lehata, the Director of Food Security and other directors
within the ministry.

The ten districts of the country will compete at a national show to be held at Ha-Foso in the Berea district starting from June 05 TO 10 later this year.
