PROFESSIONALISM- A MAJOR PILLAR OF DEMOCRACY-DPM
  Maseru, June 23 - The Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Mr. Lesao Lehohla says increased professionalism, commitment and transparency are the major pillars of democracy in every country.

Addressing public servants at a celebration to mark Public Service Day held at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru on Friday, Mr Lehohla urged all of them to be professional in their work, as professionalism forms a solid foundation for good service delivery.

Mr. Lehohla pointed out that delivery of service is largely characterized by peace and stability, adding that high accountability of custom and economic prosperity can also help to develop the country.

The DPM stated that the Lesotho government is committed to building a professional public sector hence it has introduced numerous units such as the Anti-Corruption Unit to fight corruption and promote quality service delivery within the public sector.

He expressed gratitude over commitment that public servants are currently showing to serve the Basotho nation hence thanked them (public servants) and urged for further commitment.

The purpose of the celebration is to reward and motivate public servants for outstanding duties they perform in their Ministries for the improvement of the country.

As part of the celebration, public servants from different ministries performed traditional songs and various sporting activities.

The celebration which was first held in 2005, is intended to be an annual event.
