Maseru, June 27 - The
Maseru magistrate court has sentenced a member of Lesotho Mounted Police
Service (LMPS), Trooper Rethabile Rathoma to two years imprisonment without

When passing sentence the magistrate Mr. Lesala Nthabi said the accused has failed to defend himself, as he did not deny the evidence that the money involved in the alleged bribery was found in his possession. During the trial, one of the witnesses, Inspector Makoae said a note of M50.00 was found in possession of the convict when a search was conducted on July 04 last year. Inspector Makoae said he went to Thuoathe where the convict was conducting a road block, following a report that he had received, as bribery, a M50.00 note bearing the mark numbers J862585. He told the court that it was during the search that was conducted that the said money was found in his possession. The case that was before the magistrate Mr. Nthabi was prosecuted by Mr. Khabane Ntsamai. |
