His
Majesty King Letsie III will on Sunday (12th November, 2006)
lead the nation in paying solemn tribute to the soldiers who
died on the Two World Wars, 1914 – 1918 and 1939 – 1945. The
service will be held at the cenotaph at Makoanyane Square in
Maseru.
The day is known as Armistice Day or Remembrance Sunday as
it is held for reasons of convenience, on the second Sunday
of November. The highlight of the day is the observance of a
two minutes’ silence, in memory of those who gave their
lives, at 11:00 hours, the time at which the First World War
ended on the eleventh of the eleventh month in 1918.
His Majesty the King and the Right Honourable the Prime
Minister, would be amongst those who will lay wreaths at
cenotaph.
Taking part in the ceremony are the Lesotho Defence Force,
the Lesotho Mounted Police Service, Lesotho Correctional
Service, boys-scouts, girl guides, the public and the
ex-servicemen themselves.
