PM ATTENDS HIV/AIDS MEETING IN NEW YORK
 
  Maseru, May 31 - The Prime Minister, Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili is attending a High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS at the United Nations in New York, United States of America, which started on Wednesday and ends on Friday this week.

Mr. Mosisili is accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs 'Mathato Mosisili, while his delegation includes the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Mr Motloheloa Phooko and the National Aids Commission Lesotho, Chief Executive, Mr Keketso Sefeane, who were already in New York when he left on Monday.

The purpose of the meeting is to review progress achieved in realizing the commitments set out in the Declaration of Commitment and to review progress in implementing the 2001 Declaration on HIV/AIDS, focusing on both constraints and opportunities to full implementation.

The meeting is also expected to consider recommendations on how the targets set in the Declaration may be reached as well as to renew political commitment.

The meeting involves all sectors of the international community, governments, civil society and the private sector.

For the first time, a person living with HIV was to address the General Assembly plenary, normally reserved for Member States and UN officials.
