Maseru, June
08 - Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) has ordered Lesotho Defence
Force (LDF) and Lioli football clubs to submit their reports on the violence
that broke out during the match at Setsoto stadium last Sunday during the
Buddie Top 4 finals.
At least 11 people were reported to have sustained multiple injuries
resulting from missiles that were thrown at both teams' supporters, with one
woman admitted in Hospital reportedly with a fractured leg.
In an interview, PLMC Chairman Mr. Tlholo Letete told LENA that both teams
have been ordered to submit their reports by Tuesday next week so that the
committee could assess them before taking any measures against the guilty
party.
Mr. Letete said the work will be made easier by the fact that committee
members were present at the stadium when the incident occurred, adding that
both reports and that of the referee will assist them to find the
perpetrators.
On the other hand, Mr. Letete said the guilty team faces a M1 000.00 fine or
more if it is found to have committed a similar offence before.
The PLMC head noted that they are still inquiring about the woman whose leg
was fractured to assess her latest condition and how much she spent for
treatment so as to find ways of reimbursing her medication costs.
Spectators witnessed ugly acts when LDF scored their first goal of the match
through Lekoekoe Molefe in the 23 minutes of first half when bottles, beer
cans and assortments of missiles were thrown into the pitch and eventually
11 supporters from both sides got injured during the process and the game
was suspended for 20 minutes.
LDF eventually won the match 2-1 and were crowned this year's Buddie Top 4
champions.
Lioli has earlier been charged with violence and malicious damage to
property at the stadium at one of their cup games against Matlama. |
