The National Netball team lost
36-17 to the host Namibia in a game played at the Multi Purpose Youth centre
on Tuesday. The match had to be rescheduled three times after Lesotho was set to play Angola but was later changed to face Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), until it was ultimately decided that Namibia would be their opponents. In a post match interview the team’s coach Mrs. ‘Maseabata Makhetha attributed the defeat to lack of exposure on the part of athletes and inadequate preparations due to uncertainty that the team would participate in the competition. However, she praised her charges for improving as the game went on, hoping that they would do well in their next match. There was a drama during the game when ‘Mamosotho Lillane sustained injury on the leg and it is feared that she could have broken her ankle, while another player also suffered a knee injury, and therefore both were ruled out for the next game. On the other hand, Visually Impaired athlete Thato Mohasoa is still in Hospital after experiencing breathing problems while training on Monday and it is still not clear if she will recover in time to take part in the games. |
