| NAC TO HOLD STAKEHOLDERS MEETING ON HIV REPORTING | |

The National AIDS Commission (NAC)
in Leribe has organized a one-day stakeholders’ workshop on reporting
HIV/AIDS related issues to be held at the Mountain View Hotel in Leribe on
July 03. The District Data Officer for NAC Ms. Senate Molapo said the workshop is aimed at strengthening stakeholders’ partnership on activities and issues related to HIV/AIDS especially the method in which to report such issues. She said NAC as the coordinating body on HIV and AIDS related issues and activities in the country, found it important to improve partnership in reporting of HIV/AIDS including the statistics as that will reflect if there is victory against the present prevailing situation. Ms. Molapo highlighted the importance of proper reporting of the activities and programmes aimed at combating HIV/AIDS. “Currently the reporting system is very poor in the district as there is no clear coordination and there is lack of understanding on the role of NAC. She said the workshop will also strive to build a network in the district strives to build a network in the district. The issue on need for networking of all parties involved in HIV/AIDS has been a concern tostakeholders in the district. In an interview, the Public Health Nurse at the Motebang hospital, Mr. Mpho Molatoli, described partnership as the best strategy for coordinated efforts to win against, and stop the further spread of HIV/AIDS by amongst others assisting in the effective implementation of the Lesotho “Know your Status Campaign.” NAC was established in March last year as the coordinating body of all the HIV/AIDS activities in the country. |
