Moqhali Wins Welkom Millie 42.2 km Marathon

Long distance runner, Thabiso Moqhali has added yet another to his horde of titles and awards when he won the Welkom Millie 42.2 kilometre Marathon on January 29.

Moqhali first won this Free State Championship during his debut in long distance running back in 1989 when he clocked 2:25 minutes. Though the time he clocked this time is five minutes slower, at 2:30 minutes, Moqhali was sure he could improve on it as long as he continued participating in long distance races.

He was preparing for the Two Oceans and Comrades marathons in April and June this year, an ecstatic Moqhali said.

Several other Basotho took part in the race. Tumisang Mateise was second after Moqhali while 'Mamokete Lechela won the women’s race.
