MAKOANYANE XI PLAYERS CLEARED OF AGE CHEATING
Maseru, June 21 - Three players of the national U-20 football team Makoanyane XI, Bokang Mothoana, Lereko Matsipa and Thabiso Maile have been cleared to feature in the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa (SCSA) Zone VI championship.

In an interview, Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC) Acting President Ms. 'Mathabo Makenete said following allegations that the trio were over-age and therefore not eligible to play for Makoanyane XI in the forth-coming SCSA Zone Six Championship, they conducted investigations which revealed that the players in question have valid documents since 2002.

Ms. Makenete said the players have also featured in the U-17 and Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA), U-20 tournaments as well as African Youth championship held in Benin in 2005.

'We therefore have no reason to take the allegations serious and agreed that the team is free from age-cheating,' she added.

The Acting LSRC President said their legal documents have been consistent since 2002, adding that they visited the schools which the trio attended, where one school was cooperative while the other was not.

However, Ms. Makenete said the final word will come from the Minister of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation to whom they had recommended that the allegations were not valid.

Netball National team was also withdrawn from taking part in the Games following discovery that they have included some over-age players in their team.

Meanwhile, Lesotho delegation was expected to leave on June 22 for Namibia and the games which kick off on Monday where Lesotho will be represented on Athletics, Basketball, Boxing, Football and Tennis.
