MAKOANYANE XI WHIPPED BY NAMIBIA
Windhoek, June 28 - Lesotho’s U-20 soccer team Makoanyane XI got a whipping in their opening match of the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa (SCSA) Zone V1 Games when the host nation Namibia handed them a 1-0 defeat at the Sam Nujoma stadium on Tuesday.

The defeat came despite Namibia having been reduced to ten men in the second half after a Namibian player was red carded for rough play.

In a brief interview, Makoanyane XI Coach Mr Bafokeng Mohapi agreed that the team did not play well but mentioned that he missed Lehlohonolo Ncheba and Dlomo Monaphathi who did not accompany the team to Namibia after deciding to go for trials in Tunisia just days before the team left.

He also blamed their opponents for being physical and resorting to aggressive tactics which he said tempted the referee to blow his whistle for most part of the game, not allowing the match to flow.

Mr. Mohapi however said his charges improved their game in the second half even though they did not settle quickly.

He expressed hope that the players would carry on with that form in their next match where Lesotho was to play Swaziland at Sam Nujoma stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

On the other hand, Makoanyane XI Manager Mr. Ts’iu Monne expressed worry over the rough game played by Namibia, saying four players who include the Captain Bokang Mothoana got injured due to rough tackling of their huge opponents.

However he said they are on the building process in preparation for the forth coming African Youth championship later this year.
