Mafeteng Suffers an Armed Robbery

Business people were shocked when they were robbed inside a local bank in Mafeteng on January 3. At least three traders are reported to have been robbed of over M142, 000.00 during an armed robbery at the Standard Bank branch in Mafeteng.

The incident is said to have occurred during morning business hours, between 8.30 and 9.40 in the morning, when three armed men entered the banking hall and ordered all customers to lie down. They were then relieved of their monies.

Manager of Good Hope filling station, Sebitiele Monyake, one of the victims, said he has been robbed of M89, 654.22, while waiting to be served at one of the counters. He had not been aware of the robbers when he entered the banking hall, he said.

Senior Inspector Joseph Mafantiri of the Criminal Investigation Division confirmed the robbery but said no arrests have been made and that police investigations are continuing.
