MWSCA TO MARK INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE AGED

The Maseru Women Senior Citizens Association (MWSCA) will conduct a fund raising campaign at the surroundings of shoprite and fairways shopping centres on October 06 to mark the International Day for the Aged.

The association's Assistant Secretary Mrs. 'Malebohang Molete says the senior citizens will sell a variety of traditional food stuffs as well as cakes.

She adds that the funds to be collected will be used to enable the association to perform some of its activities which include travelling to different places to visit other citizens for mobilization.

Mrs. Molete states that the international theme for this year's celebration is 'Improving The Quality Of Lives For Older Persons' indicating that older as they are, the senior citizens should be cared for and be allowed to participate in activities that can improve their living.

Also, the association plans to hold a dinner dance at Maseru Sun Cabanas on October 27 with a view to collect funds.

The international day for the aged is marked annually on October 01 with the main aim to create public awareness on the role that can be played by senior citizens in every country.
