Four community councils in the Quthing district are preparing for local government by-elections this April, according to district electoral officer, Mrs. 'Mabafokeng Mpitso.

A one-week registration of voters begins on February 2 for the election, to fill vacancies left by the death of community councilors in electoral division Liphakoe GO4 11, Mokotjomela GO8 04, and Tsatsane G06 06. The fourth, member for Seforong G10 03, deserted.

Those registering are people who have just reached 18 years of age as well as those who did not get an opportunity to register during last year ‘s the local government elections.

Quthing has 10 local government community councils, which are Likhohlong, Matsatseng, Liphakoe, Qomo-Qomong, Nkuebe, Tsatsane, Mokotjomela, Mk'hono,
Mphaki and Seforong.
