| LIVESTOCK FARMERS PLEDGE COMMITMENT IN DEVELOPMENT OF STOCK FARM | |
|
— Livestock farmers in Leribe have pledged their commitment in development and improvement of their stock for food security and commercial purposes to fight poverty. They spoke at the district livestock show held at Ha Thibeli in the Malibamats’o constituency on Wednesday, where the Ministry of agriculture and Food Security awarded prizes to those who demonstrated good care and management of their stock. The chairperson of District Wool and Mohair Farmers Association, Mr. Matorose Thuela expressed his conviction that wool and mohair continue to be the best stock produce exported from Lesotho, which if well maintained, could largely contribute to the country’s economy. He challenged other farmers to actively take part in crime prevention, working together with the police to fight their worst enemy of stock theft, which has endangered stock farming while reducing the country’s trusted export products of wool and mohair. |
