LIKUENA GEAR
UP FOR QUALIFIERS |
Rejuvenated
senior national side Likuena will train three times a week
in preparation for the next African Cup of Nations (AFCON)
qualifier against Niger in March next year. Team Manager Mr.
Thabo Pule said keeping the players together will help them
gel into formidable team.
Currently 16
local players are attending afternoon training sessions at
Bambatha Ts'ita Sports Arena on Mondays, Tuesdays and
Wednesdays, joining their clubs later.
The team
Manager said four players from Lerotholi Polytechnic and
Rovers football clubs are still writing their final
exams and will join the national team next week.
Two
international friendlies have been lined up for Likuena in
December and January. Lesotho will play warm up
matches against Botswana and Mozambique before the crucial
encounter with Niger in March.
In the meantime
the team will play a Premier League Select side. This
should give the coaches a chance to identify new players
before they select a final squad.
In a separate
development LEFA president, Advocate Salemane Phafane said
the football association is not in a rush to recruit a
foreign coach following the sacking of German coach, Toney
Hey earlier this year.
