LEHOHLA MARKS 40TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSAY WITH A
LIGHTING OF A SKY TRACKER |
To kick-start
celebration marking Lesotho’s 40th Independence anniversary,
the Deputy Prime Minister Mr Lesao Lehohla lit the
sky-tracker at an occasion held at Makoanyane Square last
Tuesday.
Speaking at this occasion Mr Lehohla said the celebrations
of Lesotho’s 40th Independence Anniversary should pose as a
reflection of where the nation comes from and where it is
going.
He said the light is a symbol that signifies the major
milestones that Lesotho has achieved in the 40 years whilst
also symbolizing the turn of a new chapter that will see the
lives of the community developed economically, politically
and socially.
He indicated that within the 40 years, Basotho faced many
challenges that included among others HIV/AIDS Poverty and
hunger but all those can be overcome if the relevant
stakeholders work together.
Speaking at the same occasion, the Minister of Local
Government Dr Ponts'o Sekatle said the day should be
regarded as a thanksgiving ceremony not only to Lesotho’s
ancestors but to the Almighty God who has unselfishly
carried Basotho through the 40 year journey.
She showed that the Basotho nation should feel proud to
witness this day as there has been peace and stability in
the country within a period of 40 years.
Lesotho got its Independence in 1966, from Britain and the
national celebration will be marked on October 4th.
