Maseru, May 31 - Lesotho Football
Association (LEFA) will launch a sponsorship of equipment worth M150 000.00
from Metropolitan Lesotho at the function to be held at Victoria Hotel on
Saturday evening. In an interview, LEFA Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mr. Ts'iu Monne said that LEFA and Metropolitan Lesotho will sign a one year agreement, adding that the equipment includes Adidas track suits, soccer balls and boots, T-shirts as well as leisure wear. He pointed out that the gesture shown by the company will go a long way in boosting the development of soccer in the country, saying the Association will use the money for equipment to prepare U-20 and U-23 teams for All Africa and Olympic qualifying games which are due later this year. The LEFA PRO said the equipment is strictly for Makoanyane XI and U-23 national teams. He appealed to other local companies to take the example set by Metropolitan Lesotho and assist other national teams with equipment, hence he showed that Likuena will be taking part in African Cup of Nations qualifying games in September this year, while U-17 is also due to play Malawi in July for African Junior championship. He said the Association has also invited Minister of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation Mrs. 'Mathabiso Lepono and Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission as well as Lesotho National Olympic Committee to attend the function at which the agreement will be signed. This is not the first time that Metropolitan supports Makoanyane XI with equipment. |
