The Lesotho
Youth Federation (LYF) will kick off its Youth Behavioral
Change, Communication and HIV/AIDS destigmatization Outreach
Programme at Maphuts'eng in Mohale'shoek from November 4-5.
The President of LYF Mr Hoolo 'Nyane, says the objective is
to empower young people on behavioural change and
destigmatization through trainings, sports activities and
integrated traditional activities.
He says the programme is an integrated attempt to advocate
for behavioural change communication among youth and
adolescents as the alternative preventive strategy against
the scourge of HIV/AIDS.
He shows that inherent within the strategic approach of the
project is the destigmatization intended to defeat the
HIV/AIDS stigma which to a large extent undermine the
preventive and treatment measures such as voluntary testing
and counseling.
He says the project targets young people within the age of
15-35 and it is expected that at the end of the project,
young people will fully understand the principles and
guideline's of behavioural change and live positive
lifestyles as the alternative preventive strategy against
further infection of HIV/AIDS in Lesotho.
