LMPS TO HOLD PUBLIC GATHERING ON COMMUNITY POLICING

Mokhotlong, May 26 - The Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) will hold a public gathering on community policing at Ha Moeketsane in Mokhotlong on Monday next week.

Commanding Officer for LMPS in Mokhotlong, Superintendent Mojela Letsie said the purpose of the gathering is to make a follow up on the training of community policing that was held in February this year.

He stated that their interest is to see whether the village has established the crime prevention committee and how the committee is working. He stated that they would also inquire on the challenges facing the committee and advice accordingly.

The Police Officer stated that they are addressing stock theft and sexual offences, which seem rampant in the district.

"It is easy to prevent crime at community level if the committees are established because they will be able to address the crimes that are rampant in their villages as they differ from village to village," he said.
