LCS TO MARK PRISON DAY

Maseru Oct. 16 (LENA)--The Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) will mark Prison Day at the LCS football ground in Maseru on Friday.

Briefing the press at a conference held at the Community Training Centre on Monday, LCS Commissioner Mr. Mojalefa Thulo said the day will be marked to create public awareness about the services rendered by the correctional services with regard to rehabilitation of inmates.

He said the day will be marked with various activities which include among others exhibition of products, produced by inmates from different correctional institutions, speeches and songs.

Director of Rehabilitation Mrs. Lineo Khalema said LCS staff has embarked on a series of activities to mark prison week saying activities started this Monday by cleaning the surroundings of the Central prison.

She added that on Tuesday they will conduct a cleaning campaign at Queen II hospital, on Wednesday they will visit children's ward to pray and give children some gifts while on Thursday they will present gifts to teenage mothers at Centre of Good Shepard.

Mrs. Khalema indicated that the theme for this year's celebration is 'We All Need Counseling At One Time or Another.'

The day is marked annually on October 18 worldwide and it will be marked for the sixth year in Lesotho.
