KOPO BEST BOXER
  Lesotho Defence Force’s boxer and the Melbourne Commonwealth 2006 games silver medalist, Moses Kopo, has been nominated as the best boxer of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) tournament of the Eastern and Southern Africa that ended in Lesotho Last Friday.

After short lay-off caused by the injuries in the Melbourne games, Kopo returned into the ring with a bang on Wednesday knocking out Zimbabwean opponent Lucky Spinyn in the second round of their Light Welter Weight bout .
Two days later, and in a final, Kopo out-boxed Kgomotso Gabakannengwe where the referee had to stop the contest in the forth round

In a post match interview, Kopo said he was fast recovering and coming back to his best but expressed concern on his overweight, saying that he has to lose 10kg in a short period,.Kopo said in order to achieve that goal, he will have to compete in several tournaments internationally or locally..

He said his ambition is to qualify for the Continental Military championship to be staged in Tunisia later this year as well as the World Military Games set for Germany before the end of this year.

Meanwhile, another LDF boxer, Mosolesa Tsie also beat his Botswana opponent Lawrence Mbangiwa in the middle weight bout. Similarly the referee had to stop the fight in the fourth round while Tsie had already collected 25 points against Mbangiwa’s five.

Lesotho's judge, Warrant Officer Motloang Molapo also earned an award for being the best referee judge of the tournament, he was presented with a trophy.

In the overall results, Lesotho was selected as the second best behind Botswana after accumulating 13 and 21 points respectively out of five countries which took part in this annual event.

In an interview, the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) team's coach Mr. Liphalo Moeketsi attributed the good performance from sound management of boxing in the country as well as warm cooperation amongst the stakeholders.

He said boxing has a bright future in Lesotho and singled out another LDF boxer Daemane Lengola who performed well in the tournament after managing to obtain silver medal in his debut in boxing.

Only five countries participated in this tournament whose purpose was to prepare for the African Mililtary Campionship set for Tunisia later this year., they are Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe as well as the hosts Lesotho.
