Letsie III has commissioned Miss Mots'eoa Senyane as the High Commissioner
of Canada and Dr. Makase Nyaphisi and Mr. Jonase Malewa as the Lesotho's
Ambassadors to the Federal Republic of German and the Republic of Italy
respectively. Speaking during the commissioning ceremony held at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Wednesday, the King expressed desire to maintain and strengthen the good relations that exist between the Kingdom of Lesotho and Canada, German and Italy. He expressed confidence that these representatives would be able to discharge their mission in a manner that would prove them worthy of this mark of confidence bestowed upon them. King stated that the three are charged to serve the government and the people of Lesotho with loyalty, honour and dignity in their capacity as High Commissioners and Ambassadors in their respective countries. When accepting letters of accreditation, the High Commissioner and Ambassadors said they would endeavor to discharge the duties with which they have been entrusted with dedication and devotion. They stated that they would remain aware of the aspirations, plans and priorities of His Majesty's Government in the development of the prosperity and well being of the people of Lesotho and his majesty's desire to strengthen the bonds of friendship with other countries. The envoys further explained that they had received support from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his staff and that they would continue to require the support of His Majesty's government while away from home on tour of duty that they are about to begin. The three expressed hope that this support would continue to be available. Dr Nyaphisi is a medical practitioner who used to practice in Mokhotlong; Mr Malewa is a retired police commissioner; while Miss Senyane was the director of Lesotho Council of Non Governmental Organisations (LCN). Dr Nyaphisi is replacing Mr Seymour Kikine, while Mr Malewa is taking the place left by Ms Lebohang Nts’inyi, who is now the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Culture. The office of the High Commissioner in Canada has been closed for quite sometime, and Miss Senyane will be opening it for the first time after a long time. |
