IRELAND PRESIDENT
CONGRATULATES MAFETENG GOV.HOSPITAL |

Mafeteng, June 12 - The President of Ireland, Mrs. Mary McAleese has congratulated the Mafeteng Government Hospital for delivering quality health services, particularly on HIV/AIDS related issues. During her one-day visit at the hospital on Monday, she said she is aware that the hospital is working hard to fight discrimination and stigma of the people living with HIV/AIDS. She said besides good services delivered by the hospital, Karabong Antiretroviral center is there to reduce congestion of patients at the hospital, as its patients have been separated from others, after receiving voluntary testing and counseling. She said since the two countries have a long history of good relations, the Government of Ireland will continue assisting the country of Lesotho with among other things; access to clean water. She congratulated Lesotho for engaging intensively in the improvement of education, through the implementation of Free Primary Education (FPE). During her one-day visit, she visited Adolescent Health Corner, Mother and Child Health (MCH), Karabong Antiretroviral Center and Population Services International (PSI). Mrs McAleese was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Home Affairs and Public Safety, Mr Lesao Lehohla, the minister of Education and Training Mr. Mohlabi Tsekoa, the Government Secretary, Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane and other senior government officials. She will leave Lesotho on Wednesday. |
