INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATED IN MAFETENG
 
-- The International Women's Day will be commemorated at Tebang, Lits'oeneng area in the Mafeteng district on May 04.

The international theme of this year's celebration is 'Women In Politics And Decision Making Positions.'

The Ministry of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation says the purpose of the day is to encourage women to actively participate in politics and decision-making levels.

The Ministry says that the day is also aimed at implementing the gender and development policy priority areas on Gender, Power, politics and decision-making that seek to equate participation of women and men in political and public decision-making as a matter of the full enjoyment of human rights, of social justice and a necessary condition for the better functioning of a democratic society.

The day will be graced by the presence of the Prime Minister Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili who will be expected to deliver a keynote address as well as to hand over a key to the women present at the occasion as a symbolic of opening the doors of politics for women.
