| IEC ORGANIZES NOMINATION OF COMMUNITY COUNCILORS | |

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Quthing has organized a
six-day nomination of community councilors to contest for local government
bi-elections to be held at the Electoral Division 06 at Sebapala from July
13th. In an interview, the IEC District Electoral Assistant Mr. T’seliso Ramaema said nomination process will be held in preparation for local government bi-elections scheduled for August 26 at the Electoral Division 06 in the Nkuebe community council G05. Mr. Ramaema said political parties are expected to identify one candidate to contest for the bi-elections, adding that independent candidates are also expected on nomination days. He indicated that nominees would be expected to fill nomination forms to be provided by IEC at the electoral divisions and pay nomination fee of M20.00. He further mentioned that candidates' names will be displayed at the Electoral Division 06 for public information for people to know candidates who will be contesting in their respective electoral divisions. He stated that the bi-elections will be carried out to replace the resigned community councilor at Sebapala in the Nkuebe community council. This will be the first bi-elections to be held in the Nkuebe community council. Meanwhile, the bi-elections to replace deceased community councilors were held in electoral divisions of Liphakoe, Mokotjomela, and Tsatsane, while at Seforong, the bi-elections were held to replace a resigned councilor, and all were held in April this year. There are 10 community councils in the Quthing district, and they are Likhohlong, Matsatseng, Liphakoe, Qomo-Qomong, Nkuebe, Tsatsane, Mokotjomela, Mk’hono, Mphaki and Seforong. |
