IEC CHAIRMAN'S CONTRACT EXTENDED
   The Independent Electoral Commission chairman Mr. Leshele Thoahlane's contract has been extended for another two years for continuity sake and nothing else, says Prime Minister, Pakalitha Mosisili.

The Prime Minister made this announcement at his Qhobosheaneng  offices on Thursday.

He said it would not be wise to let go of, Mr. Thoahlane and Mr. Mokhele Likate  at the same time as other opposition parties leaders had suggested.

Mr. Mosisili said when Mr. Thoahlane stays on as Commission, he will be vital for staging a successful and peaceful general elections which are due sometime next year.

Mr. Mosisili said Ms. Limakatso Mokhothu's first term of office has also been extended by another two years.

'This will mean that there will always be an experienced member of the Commission when there is a fresh election to run' he observed.


The Prime Minister this decision to extend Mr. Thoahlane’s contract has been blessed by the King and State Council who understood his point.

Mr. Mosisili said preparations will be made to fill the vacancy left by Mr. Likate, calling for all political stakeholders to present nominees.
