A Few Hitches in Preparations for Census 2006

The household listing currently being carried out as part of preparations for the national
population census is experiencing problems and may not be completed as scheduled due to problems Bureau of Statistics field officers encounter.

Difficulties in accessing some communities especially those in the remotest areas of the country and the unavailability of people in most urban homes are some of the problems encountered, according to Bureau director, Mrs. Liengoane Lefosa.

The household listing was initially to have been carried out over a month from January 16 but has had to be extended by a week because of the problems. It is important in helping supervisors check the veracity of enumerators in the coming census in April this year, that they have indeed been able to go house to house.
