Former National Coach Hey Appeals to FIFA

Former national coach, Tony Hey, has lodged an appeal against what he claims has been unfair dismissal by the Lesotho Football Association (LEFA). Hey was sacked as Likuena's coach last year (2005).

LEFA's acting Chief Executive Officer Thabo Pule announced on January 4 that Hey has sought Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) intervention claiming that the national soccer controlling body terminated his contract pre-maturely.

Hey is demanding an estimated M450 000 which he claims he could have earned had his three year contract not been terminated.

Pule said the Association has supplied FIFA with all the details that led to the sacking of the German born coach and is even prepared to go to Zurich, Switzerland to defend its case against Hey.

Hey's contract was terminated only a year after he had been employed in a three year contract, to prepare Likuena for regional, continental and international engagements.

LEFA claimed that Hey was always away from duty without permission and did not carryout his duties as expected. They also maintain that despite several attempts to call him before it, the coach allegedly ignored such calls leading to the Association terminating his contract.

Makoanyane XI coach Seepheephe 'Mochine' Matete is currently interim coach while LEFA seeks another coach.
