Maseru, May 26 - Eight local
boxers will hoist the national flag high among other nations from the region
at the Zone Six senior boxing championship to be held in Windhoek, Namibia
from Tuesday to June 03. The team left the country on road today (Friday) and will be expected back in the country on June 04. In an interview, team Manager Warrant Officer Liphalo Moeketsi said the team comprises highly rated Mosolesa 'Fire' Tsie and Thabiso Nketu who reached the quarterfinals at the recent Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Australia in March this year. Mr. Moeketsi said the purpose of the tournament is to select the athletes who will represent the region in the All Africa Boxing Senior Championships to be hosted either in Burkina Faso or Togo later this year. The team Manager said only gold and silver medalists will be eligible to qualify for the continental showpiece. In last year's tournament, Lesotho brought two gold medals through Tsie and Moses Kopo while Meshack Letsoepa obtained a bronze medal in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
