EU Consensus on Development Hailed

The European Union has devised a European consensus on development that ensures that African countries take responsibility for their own development.

Complimenting the European Union for its assistance to Lesotho, which he said started as far back as 1975, Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Dr Timothy Thahane said European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, Mr. Louis Michel’s visit was to introduce this consensus, which provides a solid base for increasing coherence, coordination and aid effectiveness.

Mr. Michel promised continued EU support to the country, pointing to its successful initiatives in curbing the spread of HIV/AIDS such as The Know Your Status campaign.
