|
A system that has created a database of vehicles in the Leribe district has been introduced here by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. The computerised car registration system is known as the Lesotho National Transport Information System (LS-NaTIS). Principal information officer in the Ministry, Ms. Nosizolo Mpopo was full of praise for the system, showing how it will help in efficient revenue collection, non duplication of vehicle particulars and correlation of vehicle statistics. 'The system will also reveal fraudulent registration practices and facilitate cooperation with Southern African Development Community (SADC) on matters relating to vehicle theft,' she said. LS-NaTIS has been operational only in the capital Maseru since 2001. 01 March 2006 |
