The new Principal Chief of Tsikoane, Peka le Kolbere, Chieftainess Pontšo Seoehla Mathealira has been sworn in as a new member of Senate. She is taking over from the late Chief Lechesa Mathealira who died in December 2005.

President of the Senate Chief Sempe Lejaha urged Chieftainess Mathealira to perform her duties in accordance with the Constitution of Lesotho and chieftainship Act of 1968 in order lead the public as expected.

Welcoming the new Senator, Principal Chief of Tajane Chief Tlali Mohale advised her to support the King and his government by working in accordance with the Chieftainship Act. She should also learn other laws of Lesotho in order to perform her duties as expected.

Chief Mohale promised Chieftainess Mathealira support from the other members of the Senate. She is expected to give her views during discussions in the House, he said
 
The Chieftainess is the wife of the eldest son of Chief Lechesa Mathealira, Seoehla, who died in 1998. She was a Science Teacher at St. Boniface High School.
