CENSUS DELAYS DUE TO HEAVY RAINS
--The Director of Bureau of Statistics Mrs Liengoane Lefosa says the counting of people delayed in some areas of the country due to heavy rains, and in some areas it was due to delay in delivery of census materials.

The Director said the problem at hand is lack of communication between enumerators and the public, and misunderstanding between enumerators and the public, and not finding people at their homes.

Mrs Lefosa said the Department of statistics and the police have strengthened security measures to ensure safety of enumerators, though there are still some incidences that have happened in Mohale's hoek where one enumerator was attacked.

She mentioned that two weeks after census, there will be a 14 day Post Enumeration Survey (PES), which will start on May 15 to 28. She said the purpose of the PES is to validate the results of the census.
