Boxing Takes Melbourne 2006 in its Stride

Some sporting disciplines seem to be taking their participation in Melbourne 2006 quite seriously. At least the amount of practice games and tournaments they organise have given this impression.

President of the southern region of the Lesotho Boxing Association, Phomolo Maphisa has announced that four boxers from Mafeteng will represent the district at a two-day National Championship Boxing tournament to be held in Maseru from January 28.

The tournament will see boxers of the same light fly weight compete with colleagues from seven of the country’s districts. Qacha's Nek, Mokhotlong and Thaba-Tseka will n ot be able to take part.

The boxers are Ramosa Khunonyane, Rakemoele Matete, Lebohang Handy and Motlere Makhooane..

Various boxing tournaments have been organised in different districts of the country before the boxers leave for the Commonwealth Games, Maphisa said.
