| BAC, LPC Announce Formation of an Alliance | |
|
The leadership of the Basotholand African Congress and the Lesotho Congress Party has announced the formation of an alliance. BAC leader Dr Khauhelo Raditapole and Advocate Kelebone Maope of the LPC said shared a common vision, goals and policies but have realised that most of the formations (congresses) have implemented these in dissimilar ways, which have in fact diverged from the original as envisioned by the founding fathers of the Lekhotla la Mahatammoho. The alliance is premised on the creation of a political climate conducive to good governance, sustainable economic, social and institutional development. The alliance will mobilise Basotho to achieve real freedom, peace and development through the implementation of effective socio-economic policies, strategies and programmes. The two political parties said the decision is in fact the result of an earlier appeal by the Basotholand Congress Party (BCP) for the reconciliation of all the splinter groups of the Congress Movement. The press conference proclaiming the alliance was also attended by BCP leader, Mr. Ntsukunyane Mphanya, United Democratic Party leader Charles Dabende Mofeli and prominent Basotho National Party members. 25 January 2006 |
