The new Executive Committee of the National Governing Council that will be responsible towards the implementation of the African Peer Review Mechanism in the country (APRM) was elected at an ocassion held at State Library on Tuesday. Speaking in an interview, the Focal Point for APRM Mr Mosuhla Leteka said the NGC is expected to ensure the integrity of the Lesotho Review process thus maintaining its transparency, inclusiveness and accountability. He said NGC is also expected to ensure regular participation of government, public sector, parliament, and other stakeholders in the APRM process. He showed that the presence of the Coordinator for Corporate Governance of NEPAD, Ms Evelynne Change in the country will guide the newly appointed committee on how they should perform their duty towards the implementation of APRM in Lesotho. The newly elected committee is chaired by Mrs 'Mamosebi Pholo from the women's group, the Vice Chairpersons are Mr Seabata Motsamai, director of the Lesotho Council of Non Governmental Organisation, and Dr Itumeleng Kimane from the National University of Lesotho. Other members are Mr Thuso Green from a private sector who will perform his duties as a secretary, and the two other members are Ms 'Mamoeletsi Monare from the Ministry of Sports Gender and Youth Affairs and Mr Lengolo Monyane a retired civil servant. |
