40TH ANNIVERSAY WITH A LIGHTING OF A SKY TRACKER

The Acting Prime Minister Mr Lesao Lehohla says the 40th Independence Anniversary should reflect where the Basotho nation comes from and where the want to go.

Mr Lehohla was speaking during the lighting of the sky-tracker as a kick start to mark the 40th Independence Anniversary of Lesotho at Makoanyane Square on Thursday.

He said the light is a symbol that indicates what the country has achieved in these 40 years, and this should mean the turning of the new page in order to develop the community's lives in economic, political social and other developmental sectors.

He indicated that within 40 years, Basotho faced many challenges that included among others HIV/AIDS Poverty and hunger.

He said these challenges could be overcome if all the sectors in the country are working hand in hand.

The Minister of Local Government Dr Ponts'o Sekatle said this day should be regarded as a thanksgiving to the Almighty God for those who will be able to witness it.

She showed that the Basotho nation should feel proud to witness this day as there has been peace and stability in the country within a period of 40 years.

Lesotho got its Independence in 1966, from Britain and the national celebration will be marked on October 4th.
