Workshop to Teach Better Reporting on Poverty |
|
|
Experienced journalists in countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are eligible for an upcoming two-week course to be conducted in Lesotho.
The course on poverty reporting, organized by the Southern African NSJ Media Training Trust, is scheduled for October 3 to 15. The course will be full sponsored for the selected participants, who must have at least three years of experience. Application deadline: September 1.
Participants will learn more about the challenges of poverty and its impact on a variety of issues, and how to write more insightful, hard-hitting stories on the subject. The Netherlands Institute of Southern Africa and Wits University are jointly funding the workshop. The training aims to support Millennium Development Goal No. 1, which seeks to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger and halve, before 2015, the proportion of people whose income is less than US$1 a day.
The NSJ Media Training Trust is an independent institute jointly run various African media assistance groups and associated journalism schools in the SADC and Nordic regions.
Completed application forms, with a CV, letter from employer, and a motivation letter should be sent to: Training Manager, Southern African Media Training Trust (NSJ), C.P. 4537, Maputo, Mozambique. For more information, contact nsj@nsjtraining.org. 03 August 2005 |
