Upward Adjustment in Conformity with Labour Laws Internationally
Government's upwards adjustment of the retirement age is in conformity with labour laws internationally, according to the public service staff association.

Welcoming Acting Principal Secretary for the Public Service Mrs Mamots'eare Makoko's statement the retirement age has been raised from 55 to 60 years, staff association president Mr Sk'hulumi Ntsoale noted that the adjustment met part of the seventh objective of the public servants association's constitution; that of negotiating with government on an appropriate retirement age in line with Southern African Development Community (SADC) protocols.

The Association expressed the hope that other important issues that affect public servants including  medical aid, gratuity, corruption and inefficiency are yet to be addressed.

A new Act on the adjustment is to be officially announced in April this year.

The association was formed in October last year.
