The United
Nations Secretary General's Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS to Africa, Mr Stephen
Lewis, will be in the country for a three-day visit starting from next
Monday, July 11.
The visit, a follow up on the national response and progress made on the
HIV/AIDS front and with a focus on treatment both at health centre and
household level, will see Mr. Lewis meeting with the Prime Minister, the
Ministers of Health and Foreign Affairs as well as the United Nations (UN)
Resident Coordinator and the UN country team.
Mr. Lewis will also meet the National AIDS Secretariat and the newly
established Lesotho Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (LENEPWHA),
according to a statement from the United Nations Save the Children Fund.
UNICEF said the Secretary General's visits and follow-ups have contributed
significantly in putting Lesotho on the 'global radar screen', as he has
relentlessly advocated for technical and financial resources in supporting
government's efforts in fighting HIV/AIDS.
Mr. Lewis' last visit in the country was in October last year.
