Two Companies Show Interest in Running LEC
 

Two companies, Eskom Enterprises and NETGroup/ Fieldstone Capital, have bid for a restructured Lesotho Electricity Corporation. Five prospective bidders had been short listed.   

A statement from the Privatisation Unit said by the bid deadline, at 12 noon on 31st January 2005, only the two companies had submitted their proposals. Immediately following the deadline, the bids were opened in the presence of Government of Lesotho and bidders’ representatives, the statement said. 

An evaluation committee has been formed, and a sales advisory group Group led by BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting), with IPA Energy Consulting, lawyers Cameron McKenna and Edward, Nathan & Friedland, accountants PMB and Gemini PR Services established to assist the Committee. 

The evaluation findings will be presented to Cabinet.
