Prime Minister Tony Blair's Commission for Africa Meets in Cape Town
Lesotho's Dr. Timothy Thahane will be among the 18 African Finance Ministers expected to attend the British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Commission for Africa meeting starting in Cape Town from January 17 to 18.

A statement from the Commission for Africa said the Finance and Trade Ministers, members of the Commission and representatives of the African Union will discuss key economic and finance aspects of the Commission's draft report, which will be officially released in March and form a key part of the July G8 Summit.

The meeting will also provide African economic decision makers an early opportunity to discuss those recommendations likely to impact on Africa's economic growth, investment in infrastructure as well as the removal of trade barriers.

The meeting will be hosted by the South Africa's Minister of Finance and Commissioner, Trevor Manuel.

The Commission for Africa was established in 2004 by the United Kingdom's Prime Minister Tony Blair to generate ideas and action to accelerate and sustain Africa's growth and development.
