| South Africa to Review Visa Requirements | |
|
South Africa is currently holding discussions with neighbouring Mozambique and Zimbabwe aimed at easing visa requirements. Barry Gilder, the director general of home affairs, says it is part of a major review of South Africa's entire visa regime. The visa is the stamp that allows one in or keeps them out of a country. The new measures are expected to free two more SADC states, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, from visa requirements. Citizens of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland already do not need visas to enter South Africa. Gilder made the announcement at the Global Commission on International Migration in Cape Town. The Global Commission seeks to harmonise migration policies. Its report, aimed at policy makers, will be out later 02 March 2005 |
