Retrenchments Forecast at AngloPlat

World number one platinum miner Anglo Platinum expects further retrenchments during the first quarter of 2005, AngloPlat Chief Executive Officer Ralph Havenstein announced on February 14.

In the second half of 2004 AngloPlat embarked on a process of restructuring its management structure, which cost it R191-million.

Havenstein said that it was currently in negotiations with its trade unions and staff associations on the matter of restructuring. AngloPlat was looking at retrenchments and other options, he told an investor presentation of the group's 2004 results.

However, Havenstein would not comment on which mines AngloPlat had issued Section 189, or notices of restructuring, to its unions and staff associations.
