Regional Dance Sport Federation Launched
 

The establishment of the Southern African Dance Sport Federation (SADSF) is a lifetime achievement and a dream-come-true to many dance lovers who had been longing to see the sport receiving international recognition.

Speaking at the official launching of the new Federation, Minister of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation, Mrs Mathabiso Lepono expressed hope that the new body will grow and  consolidate  efforts to develop dance sport in the Southern African region.

The Minister congratulated the Lesotho Dance Sport Association (LEDASA), for the pivotal role it played towards the establishment of the Federation. LEDASA has made Lesotho proud by coming up with the idea of forming a regional dance sport body and to have successfully lobbied other countries to buy the idea.

President of the Lesotho National Olympic Committee, Mrs 'Matlohang Moiloa- Ramoqopo  commended LEDASA for having proved the potential of sports in uniting nations. They will support the federation in its campaign of ensuring that all countries recognize dance sport as a real sport, she said.

A representative of the Swaziland Dance Sport Association, which also played a leading role in the formation of the Federation, Ms Thulie Dlamini, said one of the major goals of the Federation is to produce top level dancers in the whole Southern Africa region.

The Federation was established on May 1, 2004.
