The Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) has retained the Qalo Constituency after incumbent Mrs. ‘Makhaketla Leiba won the seat by 986 votes during the by-election held on October 8. 

The Independent Electoral Commission announced that Mrs. Leiba beat six other independent and political party representatives with Mapulutsoana Hanese the nearest rival at 461 votes. Popular Front for Democracy (PFD) representative Thabang Kholumo was third with 291 votes. 

Independent candidate Haleokoe Tshabalala had 209 people vote for him, followed by National Independence Party (NIP) representative Serame Khampepe with 161 votes. Motseki Lenyeta, an independent candidate, won 34 votes and, Temoho Kata, another independent, had five people vote for him.
